During the class you will receive individual tuition while you work on your project. There will also be the opportunity for discussion and demonstration with the other students. Tools are available to purchase as are all of the upholstery materials such as hessian, twine, hair, fibre, calico etc as you need them. Starter upholstery tool kits are also available to purchase.
Most of the techniques used in traditional upholstery are manual in nature and labour intensive. Working on your own project you will learn these traditional techniques - from stripping the chair and removing old fabrics and materials, to repairing the wood, building up the new layers of upholstery and finally covering your chair in new fabric and trim. All of this done by your own hands with a great deal of skill and care.
